we are all friends here

Community is important to us.

Beyond the physical asanas we cultivate deeper connections to ourselves, others and the world around us.

Rogue Vinyasa started with Matt and Jess who collectively hold more than 25 years of yoga experience and a decade of friendship. The combination of their expertise and their passion for movement makes for a potent atmosphere for growth.

FAQ

  • Each of our pop-up events has its own vibe, and invites you to ditch your expectations. But in general, here’s what you can expect:

    • Before class: Arrive early so you arrive stress-free! Say “hi!” to our Rogue team to check-in. To prepare for class, simply find a space for your mat. Unlike most in-studio yoga classes that require silence before class, our pop-up events provide a unique atmosphere—please feel free to chat with a neighbour and make new connections!

    • During class: If you’re not familiar with yoga poses, that’s ok! The instructor will give detailed directions to guide you through the postures. Listen to your body. If you feel like you need a break, sit down or lie down to take rest. Yoga is not about how flexible or strong you are. Instead, it is about cultivating mental awareness. Finding calm & stillness during times of challenge is the reason we practice.

    • After class: At the end of class, you may choose to linger in Savasana for a few moments to soak in the benefits of your practice. Or, please feel free to mingle and get to know your neighbours! Our out-of-studio classes provide a unique opportunity to connect with the community in a less regimented atmosphere.

  • Vinyasa is often used in the yoga world to refer to movement, but it doesn’t specify fast, slow, beginner, or advanced. Think of "vinyasa" as a strategic and mindful way to place yourself during your yoga practice.

Our classes will always have options and modifications and while some may be more challenging than others, we are confident that our yoga practices can fit everyone who attends. We also encourage you not to be shy chatting with your teacher before and after class—it’s a really amazing way to learn, and one of our favourite things about being yoga teachers.

  • Yoga is not about touching your toes — it’s about what you learn on your way down.

It’s a common misconception that you have to be flexible to practice yoga, in fact increased flexibility, strength, and mobility are things you will build with a yoga practice. But no, you do not need to have any of them to start!

  • Absolutely not!

We couldn’t do handstands until we started practicing. Which is true about most other things that we try in this world. We would love to help you feel confident in trying yoga, or handstands, or anything else we teach here. It’s why we love doing what we do, and a big part of the reason why we felt inspired to open a studio.

For the curious, inversions can be as simple as any shape that puts your head below the height of your heart (example Downward Dog) and the benefits include strengthening muscles, improving flexibility, better circulation, and even aid with lymphatic drainage. We could go on, but we would rather have you join us and discover for yourself.

    • Wear whatever you are most comfortable moving in

    • Stretchy garments that are not too loose tend to be preferable for yoga

    • Most people prefer to practice bare foot, and there are a lot of reasons behind this, however footwear and socks are fine if they are clean for indoors

    • Please do not wear perfume, cologne, or other highly scented products

    • Yoga mat: Please arrive with your own yoga mat, towel, props, or anything else that supports your practice

    • Water bottle: We aim to make you sweat! Please bring water to stay hydrated during and after class

  • Yes! Coming soon in early 2025…

  • Absolutely. We didn’t start the idea of YOGA ANYWHERE so that we could be stuck in the same place all the time. While we are super excited to have a home base to build and explore our practice, we think one of the best things about this practice is its ability to go anywhere. We expect our pop-up classes to continue to evolve alongside us and they provide a great opportunity to meet new people and practice yoga in unique and special venues!
